Hello...and welcome to my favorite page on our entire website.   I get to share here why I am so on fire and passionate about our futures in Mary Kay cosmetics!  Some of you are reading this as a favor to your consultant, so thank you!  Some of you are reading this because you want to learn more about our business...either way, be sure to read with an open mind and heart...you never know what you might get out of becoming an Independent Beauty Consultant.

I signed my Independent Beauty Consultant Agreement in 1995 and have used the past 16 years to develop a business that is centered around God first, family second, and career third, all while serving other women and helping them create their own fantastic careers.   I'd love to share with you my top four things that I LOVE about my Mary Kay career.  First, I love that I can set my own hours and be a work from home mom.  I have two boys, ages 10 and 7, and of course, they are busy with sports, scouts and friends.  I love that I'm here when they walk home from school, and get to be the first person to hear about their day.  I love that I have summers with them to enjoy our beautiful Duluth weather and I love that when they have days off for conferences or early release, my Mary Kay can work around their schedule.  Our life is very full, but not hurried, or crazy busy, and for that I am so grateful.  Plus, I love that I have time and money for me...workouts, pedicures and shopping!

Secondly, I love that I am able to deposit a fantastic commission check every month.  I am creating financial freedom for our future and hope to retire my husband from corporate America at the age of 55.   Thank you Mary Kay for no quotas, no territories, and no glass ceilings...plus, thank you for the incredible income and the freedom to live where we want to live.

Thirdly, I have to say I love free cars!  I love that I haven't had a car payment since 1996 and the company treats me to a new car every 2 years.  Currently, we are driving our 3rd pink cadillac.  Can you imagine driving free and having MK foot the bill for the lease, the tabs and 80% of your insurance?  I have had 9 career cars in Mary Kay and it never gets old...I want to help YOU earn your first free car! 

And, lastly I LOVE the women I work with.  I love my customers, I love my consultants and unit members and watching each woman grow, I love my sales directors and the future National Area we are creating; women of incredible determination and big, bold, belief!    And, I love my sister sales directors...women that have become my best friends on this incredible journey.

So, how do we make our money?

That’s usually the first question we want answered. I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to be spending time on something, it’s got to make me money or bring me joy…and Mary Kay does both of those things amazingly well!!! There are two ways we make our money;

1. Product Sales
   Whether you just signed up an hour ago, or if you’ve been in Mary Kay for 42 years, everyone in Mary Kay gets a 50% discount on Mary Kay products. We buy them direct from Mary Kay for $1 and we sell them for $2. This means if you hold a skin care class (our most common way to educate women about our products and produce sales) that has $300 in sales (a conservative number), you come out $150 ahead. Not bad for 2 hours work! Using that math, 2 classes per week would equal $1200 extra cash for you every month. Could you find 4 hours a week for that cash?
   
   
2. Commissions
   When you begin to build your team and introduce other women to the Mary Kay career opportunity, Mary Kay rewards you by paying you in cash (and prizes!) out of corporate profits. The amounts that they pay you are based on the orders of your team. They have this money to give you because you led the team that brought it in! This money does not come out of the pockets or sales of anyone on your team—Mary Kay gives it to you directly as a thank you out of THEIR pocket. Want an example? In one month last year, my Mary Kay commission check was $10,900. This was in addition to my product sales that month. As you can see, it doesn’t take a hundred years to make things happen! This may sound too good to be true, but it’s not! Like I said, this business works if you do!

BUT! It's not all about money...

To be honest with you, I did start my Mary Kay business for the money. It was my sole motivation! But what I discovered was that it was SO MUCH MORE! Mary Kay Ash founded this company based on the Golden Rule and the principles of God first, Family second and Career third. She wanted to establish a career opportunity that would enrich women’s lives. And that it does! Here are just a few of the benefits that you will enjoy as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant:

1. Flexibility
   When you become a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, you own your own business. That means you get to set your own hours! You work when you want to work. Because I was able to decide when I could fit Mary Kay in, I was able to control my schedule. And it has definitely paid off! Now, because of Mary Kay, I don’t have that constricting job, and I still work when I want to work. I love being able to schedule my week so that I can honestly say, I love my life! My husband and children do too! It’s so fun to hang out in pjs with my son Zach and play all morning!

   Truly what keeps me so passionate about Mary Kay is the girlfriends I have made. These women are like you and me…independent, decisive, and caring women that want to provide an incredible lifestyle for their family; without sacrificing time with them in the process. The friendships I’ve made with my Mary Kay girlfriends will be with me my whole life! Imagine this: You get to choose who you work with! But when you love what you do, and you do it with your closest friends, wouldn’t you agree that you never work another day in your life???
   
   
3. Outreach
   The joy that comes from helping other women enrich their lives and realize their dreams is too great to put into words! Can you believe that you can earn an executive income while reaching out to others?

5. Tax Benefits
   Our government wants to encourage small business growth, so as small business owners, we get great benefits because we run home-based businesses. This means that you will pay less in taxes because of the tax deductions you get. There are WAY too many to mention here, but they include deducting a portion of your housing expenses (including maintenance expenses & housekeeping!), automobile expenses, and even dining out for business expenses.

As if it couldn’t get any better, Mary Kay SHOWERS us in prizes! They give away MILLIONS of dollars every year in diamonds alone, as well as luxurious vacations all around the world! This year, Mary Kay is taking top directors and their husbands on an all-expenses-paid trip to Monaco! I can’t wait to win one of those trips!!! And of course there’s the Pink Cadillac, the ultimate trophy on wheels! But that’s okay if you don’t want to drive a pink car—Mary Kay will give you $900 a month CASH instead! Other career cars offered by Mary Kay include the Chevy Malibu, Chevy Equinox, Toyota Camry and the Ford Mustang! So what if you’re not the sales type? Luckily, this business is about building relationships, providing quality products and offering valuable services. Mary Kay teaches you to be informative, not pushy. Mary Kay consultants are really more like teachers than sales people. The Mary Kay products sell themselves, we just have to educate our customers about them! If you’re teachable and trainable, you can do it!

So how do I get started?

The startup cost is only $100 + tax & shipping! I don’t know about you, but I have $100 fly out of my purse every time I drive by Target...but seriously, the cost is EXTREMELY minimal when you compare it with what you get in your starter kit! You get full-sized products valued at more than $300 retail, enough supplies to facial 30 customers and a stylish black leather tote bag! Plus the intangibles that come along with your Mary Kay business are invaluable! Here are a few things that Chad and I have found in my starter kit from 1995:

The ability to resign my 40 hour job in Corporate America and replace it with a triple income boost!

1. Being able to become the woman that God wants me to be…and I’m still growing.
2. The ability to pay off our $25,000 in credit card debt! All while paying for a dream wedding and honeymoon in St. Maarten, USVI.
3. The freedom to raise my boys and be the “work at home” mom I’ve wanted to be.
4. The wonderful friends that I’ve made and get to travel the world with!
